PIVOTAL MOMENTS in Book One (In approximate order of first appearance) Parents attend all the private and group lessons and practice daily with their children. In the beginning, the responsibility of practicing lies in the hands of the parents. The university student observes the other two lessons of the beginning student. The “helper lesson” is a private lesson given by a university student taking a string pedagogy class. These are a half-hour private lesson given by the major teacher, a one hour group lesson, and a “helper lesson”. When the teacher feels the student is not ready to continue to the next piece, supplementary repertoire can and should be added. Since each student has a unique combination of strengths and weaknesses, all tasks may not be mastered by the end of each piece. The Teacher’s Guide will help organize a student’s course of study and select the appropriate starting point to review tasks that have not yet been mastered.
